ORGANIZATION: COLUMBIA PLAY PROJECT

Impact innovators support Columbia Play Project’s (CPP) marketing and community engagement teams. Your volunteer support will help us amplify our message and build enthusiasm and support for the vision of CPP. Play Promoters may seek out, organize, and lead tabling event opportunities OR simply arrive at a planned tabling event and educate and engage the community in the future of CPP. Activities could include but are not limited to:

  • Represent the Columbia Play Project in a professional, positive, and playful manner.
  • Stay up to date on upcoming events and keystone achievements.
  • Maintain records regarding community contacts and impact.

Job Relationships:

  • Work closely with all other CPP staff and volunteers to ensure quality communication when volunteering at CPP.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with personnel at partner organizations.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to encourage and engage in collaborative and respectful dialogue with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised and independently.
  • Must have computer skills involving, but not limited to, Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in other languages aside from English is encouraged.
  • Experience with or interest in working with 0-12-year-old children.
  • Experience in community engagement and outreach.
  • Able to volunteer once monthly or more, according to your schedule and availability.
  • Events locations and amenities vary. May need to sit, stand and/or speak for 2 or more hours per event.

Community Play Promoters lead volunteer role: The person in this role will have strong organization skills and act as a leader and plan tabling event logistics with community partners. In addition to the experience and abilities listed above a Lead Play Promoter will:

  • Create and maintain spreadsheets for upcoming events and contacts.
  • Maintain materials used for outreach and tabling events.
  • Assist in the recruitment and scheduling of volunteers for outreach and special events.
  • Reach out to community partners to schedule and plan tabling and outreach events.

Training:

  • All Community Play Promoters will receive a tool kit of supplies to support a successful tabling event.
  • New Community Play Promotor volunteers will participate in a short training to learn how to table and the key community messages.

Description

The Columbia Play Project is building a children's museum in Clark County, Washington! We currently offer pop-up play parties through our mobile museum at locations throughout the county with STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math) based play activities for children of all ages.
