This is a new park "Hundred Acres Nature Park" in the town of Rush that runs along the Genesee River. We will be planting trees, clearing some trails, and helping newly planted trees with watering, mulching and caging, as well as clearing some logs off trails and making markers for trails. Go to https://www.rushrpa.org and then click on events for details about our work parties! Opportunities to join bird walks, learn about invasives, bats, and native plants can also be part of the experience. We are looking for people who might help us design and build some small bridges. 60% of the park is forest, some old growth. The other 40% are fields that we are re-wilding in an effort to build a food forest for native birds, pollinators and wildlife. We are building native perennial beds to be a show case for native planting and encourage everyone to plant some native species in their yard to create a corridor for pollinators, birds, and all wildlife!

Description

Rush Recreation and Park Association are the stewards of the Hundred Acres Nature Park in Monroe Co, NY, an oasis that borders the Genesee River for one mile. This is a "park-in-progress" Over the last five years we have nurtured and transformed some of the 40 acres of the park that were farmed by planting 253 native trees and bushes as well as native perennial pollinators. The 60 acres that were not farmed include old growth sections of forest and beautiful views along the Genesee River. We offer guided nature walks with wildlife experts. We offer education on invasive remediation. We stand as a testament to community driven conservation
