STAR - St Louis Avian Rescue is looking for Fosters! STAR does not have a brick-and-mortar location. This means we rely on volunteer fosters to house our birds until they find their forever home. If you love birds, we would LOVE to have you on our foster team!

Don't worry, you can choose the species/size of birds you feel most comfortable with (from parakeets to macaws). We provide training and necessary cages/supplies.

Criteria to foster birds include being over 18 yrs old, undergoing a background check and home visit. Fosters must live in the St Louis area (Missouri or Illinois). Also, due to the toxicity dangers, the use of non-stick cookware, tobacco, scented plug-ins/air fresheners, candles ..etc. are not allowed while fostering our birds.

If you are interesting in fostering birds for STAR and live in the St Louis Area, please apply today!

About St. Louis Avian Rescue

Location:

PO Box 732, St Louis, MO 63011, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve and enrich the lives of parrots through rescue, rehabilitative fostering, adoption and education.

Description

St. Louis Avian Rescue is a foster based group that provides re-homing services for companion birds in a variety of forms of distress: from those recovered out of doors, those whose caretakers can no longer provide for them (due to illness or other changes), to neglected and actively abused birds.

These birds are taken in, provided with both acute and long term vetrinary care, and placed in foster homes where the complex emotional and social needs of companion birds can be met on an individual basis. In addition to providing a healthy family atmosphere, our fosters work to improve the adoptability of each bird - addressing behavioral issues and providing training and socialization.
