FIRST Let LITA connect you with Activity Director to find a date and time best for your introductory visit and orientation prior to setting up your elective schedule for pet visits
Bring your well behaved pet along and visit residents at Legacy Post Acute Care in Martinez
Activity staff will greet you and accompany you as you allow animal loving lonely residents to meet and pet your dog ( or cat or ...) There is a spacious covered patio garden at Legacy which is a great place to make indtroductions on your first visit.

"Love Is The Answer" LITA of Contra Costa (since 1980) involves community members of all ages, educating and supporting youth, students families and aspiring artists to be Volunteers to fulfill our Mission to improve quality of life for senior & disabled persons living full time in nursing care as well as selected memory care and assisted living facilities in Contra Costa County.
Description
LITA of CC serves skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, primarily in Contra Costa County. LITA is non-sectarian. There is no charge for LITA volunteer services.
MUSIC AWAKENINGS: LITA has long supported the miracle of Music to enhance healing & joy. Volunteers program tablets and phones especially for an individual patient (who may have speech, sight or social disabilities) with access to of music and movies from their prime of life stimulate golden memories, reducing stress, insomnia , agitation depression and alleviating sundowning. Spontaneously singing along with beloved lyrics, patients have created new pathways torestore speech.
LITA of Contra Costa encourages Intergeneration Appreciation, with events and holiday or project visits for groups from preschool through High School and College. Family visits are also encouraged and supported within this Love Is The Answer volunteer program.
Arts Volunteers at all ages & levels of perfecting audio/visual, music, dance, acting, poetry and other performing & fine arts, share these gifts with seniors in continuing care. Our most popular LITA program, suspended during covid and still not back was Pet Visitors bringing gentle dogs, cats, turtles birds. - pet visit schedule is with Facility Activity Director and needs to be honored. One hour once a week is ideal. If you can visit twice a month, even that would be greatly appreciated. Consistency is highly valued !
- First you will have a meeting with Activity Director or social services director Vanessa or assistant Yessi to evaluate your pet . Once accepted check in at reception each visit. staff will meet you and your pet for your social visit tour.
