About Landis Valley Museum

Location:

2451 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, US

Mission Statement

Landis Valley’s mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret Pennsylvania German Material culture from 1740 through 1940. We accomplish this through Collections, Education, our Farm program and the Heirloom Seed Project.

Description

The Landis Valley Museum (LVM) is a nationally significant living history museum that collects, conserves, exhibits and interprets Pennsylvania German culture, heritage and materials from a 200-year period (1740 to 1940). The LVM, which houses the largest collection of Pennsylvania German artifacts in the United States, presents authentic traditional farming activities and skilled craft demonstrations and provides visitors with a first-hand look at village and industrial life of Lancaster County through two centuries. Additionally, our sales department helps support our mission-based programs through sales of handmade items at the museum store, hosting crafting classes, rental of a few of our historic buildings, and special seasonal events. Over the years, volunteers have made their mark on nearly every aspect of Landis Valley Museum, and continue to make a huge impact. Our mission with volunteers is to provide a fun, safe and rewarding environment for people to contribute to our museum’s mission in an area of their interest. We offer many different ways you could use your personal talents to volunteer!
