We are looking for support from a person(s) who has experience in the fundraising world or is keen to gain the experience. Preferably someone who has experience with grants, what is available and how to approach donors, but who also can be creative in starting fundraising campaigns. This will be a joint volunteer role with our fundraising committee chair person. Due to the commitment involved, this position may be a good fit for a retiree looking to utilize their previous career skills through volunteer work or a college student thriving to exceed in their field through sheer passion or externship hours. This position would be a true commitment to a thoroughly researched need for Tarrant County and the Greater Fort Worth area.
Salary: Voluntary Position Only
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Fundraising Committee Chair in finding/prospecting for new grants
- Updating and managing the fundraising grants and foundations database
- Thinking of creative ways of engaging major donors/corporates
- Thinking of creative ways of engaging individual donors
- Running campaigns with the fundraising team to encourage individual donations
- Networking and managing relationship with potential funders
- Developing new fundraising ideas
- Regularly delivering written reports on progress
- Regularly reviewing the fundraising strategy with the Fundraising Committee Chair and Executive Team
- Sharing responsibility with the team for long term goals and being flexible in your volunteer work, ex: may be asked to run a booth at an event or take part in a workshop
- Assisting with general administration including answering emails, calls, preparing resources, keeping clear records of spending and reporting back to committee.
- Location: Working from home with occasional face to face meetings in the Fort Worth metroplex.
Essential Skills
- Confident self-starter
- Proven understanding of third sector/charitable organizations
- Proven research skills
- Experience of relationship building and maintaining
- Committed and able to dedicate the equivalent of at least 4-6 hours each week to the role
- Proven written communication skills
- Team working experience
- Confidence to work on own initiative with minimum supervision, but knowing when to consult with and inform others.
- Able to set and meet own targets and goals
Desirable Skills
- Creative thinking
- Experience of prospecting from grants
- Experience of grant writing in some form
- Experience of working with or for a small charity
- Ability to work under pressure and be resilient to set backs
- Competent with social media and communication tools
