Are you a lover of history? Are you interested in historical costuming? Are you looking to share your creativity and passion for sewing with the public? Would you be interested in sharing your skills with others? Then the lead sewing volunteer position is right for you!
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is looking for a dedicated volunteer who is willing to sew Civil War-Era clothes and help train other volunteers to repair and care for them. Responsibilities associated with this position generally include sorting and hanging clothing, helping with clothing inventory, repairing period-appropriate sewing equipment, and sewing period clothes such as shirts, pants, coats, blouses, jackets, ironing, etc.
Sewing experience is REQUIRED for this position. Guidance will be provided by park staff! Hours of work will generally be six hours a week for two days a week during the spring, summer, and fall.
