Description:
HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre is seeking a passionate and experienced Ballroom Dance Instructor to join our team of dedicated volunteers. As a Ballroom Dance Instructor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer by providing them with an outlet for joy, expression, and physical activity.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Ballroom Dance Classes: Plan and conduct engaging ballroom dance classes tailored to the needs and abilities of participants at HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre.
- Instruction and Demonstration: Teach basic to advanced ballroom dance steps and techniques, providing clear instructions and demonstrations to participants.
- Create a Supportive Environment: Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where participants feel comfortable and encouraged to explore the art of ballroom dance.
- Adaptability: Be adaptable and sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of participants, modifying activities and pace as necessary to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
- Provide Encouragement and Support: Offer encouragement, support, and motivation to participants as they learn and progress in their ballroom dance skills.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Demonstrated experience and proficiency in ballroom dance instruction, with a strong understanding of various dance styles (e.g., Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha-Cha, Rumba).
- Passion: Genuine passion for dance and its ability to positively impact physical and emotional well-being, particularly in the context of cancer support.
- Compassion: Compassionate and empathetic nature, with the ability to interact sensitively with individuals facing cancer and their loved ones.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate instructions and provide feedback to participants.
- Reliability: Dependable, punctual, and committed to fulfilling volunteer responsibilities on a consistent basis.
- Certification (Preferred): Certification or formal training in ballroom dance instruction is preferred but not required.
