ORGANIZATION: THE GRACE PERIOD INC

As the house manager, you will do one week of training with a Grace Period employee. After that you will be assigned your first resident. House managers work with residents on (and maintain a scorecard for) budgeting, employment, respect, accountability, community living and life skills. They assist in crafting and managing a customized development plan for their assigned resident. The house manager is the "decider", making independent and on-the-spot decisions. House managers are responsible for regular scheduled visits and reviews as well as unscheduled visits if you deem them necessary.

Being aware and alert of the housing situation and how the resident is living is a crucial part of this volunteer position. You will review resident’s schedules, have communication between all parties involved, fill out all necessary paperwork for TGP records, and be part of your assigned resident’s move-in day, graduation and success at The Grace Period and after. Ultimately, a house manager’s responsibility is to ensure that residents thrive after their time at The Grace Period.

About THE GRACE PERIOD INC

Location:

Mission Statement

The Grace Period’s Mission We aim to move adults and families who cannot currently afford stable housing into self-sufficiency by providing transitional housing, a comprehensive, faith based program that focuses on personal growth and life management skills, and assistance with education and career goals set by the residents.

Description

It is a full developmental program helping those who need to be a little more self-sufficient. Our program is for the street homeless, the couch surfing homeless and the long term hotel homeless. We help the hurting to get out of their bad situation and start really saving for the life they deserve. Part of our program is what we call "School of Shalom". School of Shalom works on the 7 dimensions of well-being. We work on Financial , Occupational , Physical Health, Mental ,Emotional Health, Faith Journey, and Relationship Growth.

Our program has three different tiers and is based on the needs of those we serve. We start by getting families into our home where their rent and utilities are covered. They start our financial program. From there, we conduct an assessment and start on the 7 dimensions in the School of Shalom. The second tier moves them into the self-sufficiency. As The Grace Period discontinues rent and utility assistance, our residents learn how to run their own household, save for utilities and rent, and live within a budget for expenses like groceries, insurances, benefits, etc.. The third tier works on their continued self-sufficiency and helping them find a place to call their permanent home.
