Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: InterFaith Works of Central New York

Our One to One Program is currently recruiting volunteers to help with our Opening Minds Through Art Program ( OMA) at Sedgewick Heights Nursing facility. OMA - Opening Minds Through Art is an intergenerational abstract art program designed for residents who may experience dementia or some level of memory decline as an outlet for individuals to creatively express themselves through art. To successfully facilitate each art session we are looking for volunteers who would be able to help with set up and would be willing to assist residents with each art project once a week for 4 weeks and help us celebrate residents and their art pieces with an art show following the completion of the sessions. Anyone is welcome to volunteer, and no previous art background is required - we will provide you with training materials and facilitate each session for you and your partnered resident. The upcoming training session will take place in-person on Friday, February 23rd from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 3:00-5:00 PM at InterFaith Works (1010 James Street).
