Host families are households of 1 or more people willing to engage with their community through radical hospitality, disruptive generosity, and intentional compassion. Safe Families for Children prevents families from entering the foster care system. Host families are screened and trained volunteers willing to temporarily host children of parents facing isolation and crisis. Average hosting lengths are 3 weeks, but can range from 1 night to several weeks or months depending on each unique circumstance. Our goal is reunification of children with their parents. Parents request Safe Family hosting for many reasons including domestic violence, homelessness, unemployment, medical crisis and many others.
