VOLUNTEER DOCENT AT BENSENVILLE RAILROAD MUSEUM

TheBensenville Railroad Museum are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to docent at the historic Train Museum! If you love trains, the history of the railroad in northwest Illinois, and the history of immigration to Bensenville, share your enthusiasm monthly with visitors.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Availability for a minimum 3 hour shift, twice a month
  • Engage with visitors
  • Answer questions from visitors
  • Explain the history of the railroad in Bensenville
  • Explain the history of trains
  • Explain the history of Bensenville
  • Facilitate in-house scavenger hunt
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Availability for at least 2 shifts per month, 3 hours each
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Enthusiasm for history
  • Comfort interacting with people
  • Comfort working in a train (no air conditioning)
  • Experience in customer service and educational facilitation preferred

JOB STATUS Volunteer DEPARTMENT Museum FSLA STATUS Non-Exempt

SALARY $0.00 per hour

HOURS 10 hours per month including evenings and weekends
