WarriorNOW is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Colorado.

Our goal is to find a way to eliminate the stigma associated with Veterans dealing with mental health related concerns, PTSD, and/or addiction. It is unfortunate how many of our Veterans are suffering and have no outlet or resources to assist in fighting their daily battle. We are happy to say that "WE DO NOT FIGHT ALONE". Much like being in the service, we are bringing the team approach back to the lives of our Veterans where it belongs...

We are seeking Active Duty, Retirees, Veterans, National Guard Reservists that are dedicated and compassionate individuals to serve as Volunteer Mentors for our Veterans Treatment Court program. As a mentor, you will work one-on-one with veterans who are participating in the court program and need support and guidance as they navigate the legal system and work towards overcoming their challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Meet regularly with assigned veteran participant(s) via phone, text, email and or in person to provide emotional and moral support and guidance.

  1. Act as a positive role model and provide guidance on making positive life choices.

  1. Assist in connecting the participant with community resources and support services.

  1. Attend court hearings with the participant, as needed.

  1. Provide regular updates to the Veterans Treatment Court LPMC on the participant's progress

  1. Attend a Pro-Social event with your Veteran.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have served in the Armed Forces.

  1. Proof of Service DD Form 214 Copy 1 or 4 (Retiree or Veteran Honorable Discharge, General Discharge (Under Honorable Conditions).

  1. Must pass a background check but personal experience in the judicial system will be considered

  1. Strong desire to support and serve veterans.

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  1. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a sensitive environment.

  1. Experience working with individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health issues is preferred.

Note: This is a volunteer position and there is no compensation.

  • Must be at least 21
  • Orientation or Training
  • Approximately 1-1 1/2 hours on Thursday afternoon for court. Attend a Prosocial event with your Veteran about 2 hrs. Communication with the Veteran 1-2 times a week.
