Want to make a difference & volunteer with your dog? Seeking exceptionally well trained/well mannered dogs and their loving handlers to visit patients in a hospital in our therapy dog program
Do you have a friendly, well mannered, obediently trained dog? Do you want to give back to patients in a hospital setting? Does your dog enjoy being around people it doesn't know? Does your dog do well in busy environments? Do you enjoy interacting with all walks of life?
Want to make a difference in patients’ lives? Come join the Pawsitive Pet Program at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, CA. Seeking volunteers to visit in an acute care setting. The Pawsitive Pet Program therapy dogs provide an incredible service visiting with our patients, visitors, and caregivers (staff). These visits are especially meaningful due to the stress of being in a hospital.
We are looking for great handler/dog teams to join the Pawsitive Pet Program. To join the Pawsitive Pet Program you will need to become registered as an official therapy dog team with Pet Partner or already be a registered therapy team with them. Don’t worry if you aren’t one yet; if you meet the requirements and are a good fit for the program, we will help guide you through the process of becoming registered with Pet Partners. All Pawsitive Pet Program volunteers will onboard as Providence Saint John’s volunteers as well.
All we ask is that you visit just twice per month for at least 1 year. The Pawsitive Pet Program volunteer experience is incredibly rewarding for the human as well as the dog. Be warned: it’s a difficult job coming into the hospital; getting pets, being told how adorable you are, and being the best part of someone’s day. We recommend lots of treats to make up for such ruff treatment.
Help bring smiles, support, and healing to those in need.
If you are interested in learning more, please call Karen Stoyer, Coordinator, at (310) 829-8438.
