~ Free language classes for volunteer teachers - English as a Second Language is included. ~

Volunteer to teach your native or fluent language to adults of all ages. Speakers of all languages are welcome.

GLN is a DC-based non-profit that trains its volunteer teachers in the GLN method to share their knowledge of language and culture with an enthusiastic adult student community in DC and around the world. No prior teaching experience is required, though it is a plus.

Free teacher training provided approximately every 4 - 6 weeks.

As a both virtual and in-person opportunity, teachers can apply from anywhere in the world. Volunteers provide 2 hours of instruction one day a week for a six, eight, ten, or twelve week period. We work with your schedule to make your class possible.

Boost your professional experience with our Teacher Fellowship and gain skills in teaching, public speaking, group management, and leadership. Inspire others in their global careers and personal goals, and build community with a group of like minded professionals.

GLN is a place to learn, share language and culture, and build friendships and professional relationships. It is an incredible way to continue engaging in a language; it is also a beautiful way of giving back to the community.

Please take a look at our website for more information: https://thegln.org/teach/ teaching-fellowship/

As a next step, send your resume to Teaching@TheGLN.org, and we will respond with more information and our teacher training RSVP form.

We look forward to seeing you at our next teacher training!

Mission Statement

The Global Language Network (GLN) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization founded by Andrew Brown in 2005 whose mission is to provide opportunities to learn any language at a minimal cost. We recruit and train native speakers who volunteer their time to teach their language and share their culture with the DC community. Our affordable classes in 62 different languages build learners' communicative competence and enable them to communicate with others in meaningful and culturally appropriate ways.

Description

GLN makes language learning easy, enjoyable and effective: we create a comfortable environment where students have direct experiences with the target language and culture. We engage them and build their competence and confidence to communicate with others in meaningful and appropriate ways.

GLN teaches language through culture and culture through language because by studying languages people gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures that use that language, and in fact, cannot truly master the language until having also mastered the cultural contexts in which the language occurs.
