Help an Older Adult Leave a Lasting Legacy

ORGANIZATION: DOROT, Inc

2015 logo

Help a DOROT older adult preserve their life’s story! Legacy Project volunteers work one-on-one with an older adult to create lasting memories of their lives. Legacy Projects can take on different media forms, according to the interest and skillset of the older adult and volunteer match, including: photo books, video, oral or written essays, recipe books and more!

Pairs meet for 6-8 one-hour sessions with the volunteer then devoting some additional time to compile, review and ultimately create the project. This volunteer opportunity is often best suited for individuals with a background in videography, writing, photography and other fine arts, as well as those with a social work or similar background, though it is certainly not required. Volunteers must be 18+ to participate in this program.

Cohorts for Legacy Projects begin every 3 months with a maximum of 8-10 volunteer/older adult pairs. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please register for an upcoming adult Volunteer Orientation and Information Session by visiting here: https://dorotusa.jotform.com/232264990755970

For more information, please contact volunteers@dorotusa.org or call 917-441-3726.
