QCH with tagline

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Central and Southeast Queens. We're currently in need of a volunteer who knows American Sign Language to provide social engagement to an older adult in Rego Park, Queens.

The program aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, and celebrate special holidays.
Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, and a background check is required to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call or do in-person visits the older adult upon approval.
