Greeter and Front Desk Support Needed for Adult Literacy Organization

If you love meeting and interacting with new people, we'd love to have you at our front desk!
Volunteers in this role greet all who walk into the office, answer the phone, and help direct students and tutors throughout the office. Volunteers may also need to assist students in accessing the computer and using language learning software. The best fit for this position is a volunteer who is personable, patient, and excited to work with English language learners.
Staff will provide training after completing an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with computer programs (training provided)
- Answer the phone, take messages
- Schedule appointments as needed
- Answer questions and help direct people to resources or rooms within the office
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Comfortable using PC computers
- Prior experience working with various language speakers is preferred but not required
- Reliable and communicative of any schedule changes at least 24 hours before scheduled shifts

Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle ( LVCA) is a non-profit agency that offers free basic literacy and English as a Second Language tutoring to adults through the recruitment and training of volunteer tutors who work one-on-one with learners, helping them become more productive workers, parents, citizens, neighbors, and consumers. LVCA is a Virginia non-stock corporation with IRS 501(c)(3) status and is assisted and governed by a Board of Directors.
