Chaplains build and maintain an attitude of cooperation and mutual respect between the Department and Colorado Springs citizens. Chaplains provide counseling, consultation, and other forms of human crisis intervention to CSPD Officers and Colorado Springs citizens.

The Community Advancing Public Safety (CAPS) Program is an exciting community-wide effort that engages volunteers in a public safety partnership with the City’s Police and Fire Departments and the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management. While volunteers have been an integral part of daily operations throughout the police department for over forty years, CAPS catapulted the program to unsurpassed levels of success and unparalleled accomplishments.
