Meals on Wheels Fairfield County is committed to enabling independent living and improving the quality of life for older adults in our community. We are proud to offer the Friendly Visitor Program to alleviate loneliness and promote social interaction.
Volunteers are matched with up to 2 clients who are experiencing loneliness.
Volunteers may schedule visits on their own directly with a client between the hours of 8am and 8pm any day of the week.
Visits are held for a minimum of 30 minutes but can last longer if both the volunteer and client are up for the extended visit.
You can watch a tv program, play cards or a game, complete a puzzle, cook and enjoy a meal or treat, go for a walk and more.
Under this program volunteers are not permitted to transport a client for any reason and are not permitted to do personal or licensed care.
Volunteers are required to complete a short-written documentation of their visit.
