ORGANIZATION: Bristol Hospice Snohomish County

Bristol Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship and support to patients and their families during the final stages of life. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort by offering compassionate care to patients and their families, wherever a patient calls home.

Some common volunteer visits might include

  • Being a comforting and supportive visitor
  • Providing companionship to a patient and their family
  • Offering caregiver relief while family members are outside of the home
  • Running errands
  • Reading books, newspapers or magazines to the patient
  • Playing games or doing puzzles
  • Listening to music or watching TV
  • Helping the patient write letters or emails
  • Assisting with light household chores
  • Engaging in leisure activities that the patient enjoys
  • Preparing light meals
  • Taking walks
  • Just being present
Volunteers do not provide any medical services, but are simply available for the purposes of companionship, errands or caregiver relief. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and serve your community. You have what it takes to make someone’s life better!

We provide in-depth training so volunteers feel prepared to do this important work. With this instruction, and support from a network of fellow volunteers and staff, you can become a source of connection and joy in the lives of patients and their loved ones.

Our patients are located throughout Snohomish County, in their homes and in care facilities.

As a Bristol Hospice volunteer:

  • you are placed with a patient near your own community
  • you create visit schedules based on individual availability
  • you receive patient assignments that best suit your skills and interests

Volunteers truly make a difference.

If this sounds like what you’re looking for, get in touch!
We can’t wait to meet you.

Remember, while we can’t change the outcome, we can profoundly impact the journey.
