At the Hope Center for Women and Children, a place for women and their children to receive shelter, food, and life recovery programming, we host an evening program for children ages infant to 17 called "Kids Nite," in which kids spend about an hour and a half doing activities that help foster relationships with God, other children, and positive adult role models. Volunteers will facilitate pre-planned, age-appropriate activities under the direct supervision of the Children's Ministry Coordinator.
All kids participating are living with their moms at the Hope Center, and this program provides the opportunity to invest in the youth at Hope Center while allowing their parent to participate in evening life recovery courses or Bible study.

Ideal for a volunteer to be able to commit to a weekly role at Kids Nite (either Tuesdays or Thursdays).

Helpful Tips to know for any Children’s Ministry volunteers:

  • Show a Christ-like example to the children, moms, volunteers, and staff (in word and in actions)
  • Have the ability to respond if there is an emergency
  • Be able to recognize what is safe or unsafe behavior
  • Show a desire to interact with children and a compassionate attitude
  • Be willing to build relationship with children-get to know them (their interests or hobbies)
  • Have patience and stamina to keep up with the demands of children
  • Some experience working with children is preferred

A couple of questions to consider:

  • What is your motivation or desire to work with kids impacted by trauma?
  • Do you feel comfortable working independently with kids, or do you feel that more support would be beneficial in some areas?
  • Please inform us of any physical accommodations you may need when performing these duties
