Are you a student or artist in the area of ceramics who has already given your friends & family all the mugs they can fit in their cupboards?
Do you want something beautiful you make to go into the hands of someone who needs desperately to remember that someone cares?
Have you felt the comfort that comes from receiving a heartfelt gift and want to spread that feeling?
Unity Hospice's goal is to provide care and comfort to patients AND their families. Patients are in the final 6 months of their lives, and many families have been caring for their loved one for years and are feeling the emotional strain of caregiver fatigue, and the approaching grief and loss.
During the final week of a patient's life, Unity staff like to bring a "Care bag" - A small gift with some literature that explains what to expect at end of life, along with some items to bring a little comfort and show we care - quick easy snacks and drinks for the caregiver/family.
We would love to accompany the cocoa and tea we give with something beautiful - a handmade mug that carries the healing energy of the artist in its carefully crafted form. Our community is FULL of talented artisans who want to spread beauty in the world - Unity would be so thankful to be part of that process for you.
If you have a profusion of handmade mugs (or the ability and a location to make them) and this opportunity sounds like a good fit, we look forward to hearing from you!
