ORGANIZATION: Residential Hospice

  • 3 people are interested

Residential Healthcare offers home health and hospice services to patients throughout Southern Illinois. The hospice team is offering an internship position to a social work major with an interest in medical social work. Within the healthcare setting, the social worker is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team. The social worker is responsible for assisting patients and families with the non-medical issues that arise during care, including insurance questions, financial issues, coordinating caregivers and support, interpersonal and family dynamic issues, and many more.

A social work intern will shadow and support our MSWs by visiting patients, attending interdisciplinary meetings, and attending networking events. Interns will work with members of Residential's interdisciplinary team, including the medical director/MD, RN case managers, home health aides, chaplains, and volunteers.

Residential Healthcare's regional office is located in Glen Carbon. Internships are available for Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters.
