Is your heart looking to serve patients and their caregivers who are under hospice care in your community? Then becoming a Longleaf Hospice and Palliative Care Volunteer may be for you! Our volunteers provide an extra layer of support for the patients and families we serve and support our staff by giving them their time, energy, skills, and talent to help patients and families deal with some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
We are seeking compassionate people to be patient companions and caregiver respite volunteers weekly. These volunteers make visits to patients in their homes or, in some cases, an assisted living or skilled nursing facility. Volunteer visits provide our patients with companionship and support and enable caregivers to benefit from much-needed respite. Visits with your patient may include:
sharing stories
watching TV or movies
reading
puzzles
playing music or singing
taking a walk
baking or cooking
running errands
light housekeeping
craft activities
simply being present and being an active listener
and more...
The volunteer coordinators strive to match the volunteers and patients/families based on compatible personalities, location, and availability.
If you feel like you are searching for a way to make a difference and you feel being a hospice volunteer may be the right fit, please contact us TODAY!
