STEMapalooza

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida's STEMapalooza 2024 will be on Saturday April 6th at Florida Polytechnic University. This event is an opportunity for girls and families in our community to learn through hands-on STEM (Science, technology, engineering, math)activities.

We are seeking volunteers to help us have a great event! Multiple roles and shifts are available.

When you sign up for a shift, please let us know in the notes which role(s) you are interested in, and what your t-shirt size is (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

Volunteer Roles:

  • Friday Event Set Up: Table set-up, classroom arrangement, signage, vendor assistance, retail set up.
    • Friday, afternoon, time TBD.
  • Saturday Event Set-up: Assist with table set-up, classroom arrangement, signage, vendor assistance, retail set up.
    • Saturday, 8:00am - 10:30am
  • Door Greeters: Holding doors for participants as they enter and exit, directing to activities and talks.
    • Saturday, 9:30am - 12:30pm
    • Saturday, 12:00pm - 2:30pm
  • STEM MakeHER Captains: Assist Girl Scouts at one of many STEM activity stations by guiding them through a hands on STEM activity as they stop by your station. Instructions and materials will be provided.
    • Saturday, 9:15am - 12:30pm
    • Saturday, 12:00pm - 2:30pm
  • Room Captains: Managing foot traffic at doors & activities. Queuing the line into the program partner rooms.
    • Saturday, 9:30am - 12:30pm
    • Saturday, 12:00pm - 2:30pm
  • Floating Assistance: Assigned as needed with program partners, line management, or setup as determined by program team.
    • Saturday, 9:30am - 12:30pm
    • Saturday, 12:00pm - 2:30pm
  • Event Tear Down - Resetting Venue
    • Saturday, 1:45pm - 3:30pm

Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math.
