The Palestinian Laws & Legal Practices Internship 2025 offers a unique opportunity for students and professionals in law, social sciences, human rights, and related fields to gain hands-on experience and an in-depth understanding of the Palestinian legal system. Operating in one of the most complex legal environments in the world, this internship program allows you to explore the legal frameworks that govern daily life in the West Bank while gaining practical insights into legal practices, legislation, and court proceedings.

Flexible Internship Duration & Timing

Engage in Palestine offers flexible internship durations, ranging from 1 to 13 weeks. The program is available year-round (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter), with start and end dates determined by the intern's availability. This flexibility allows participants to choose the best time to join, whether for a short-term or long-term commitment.

Immersive Learning & Real-World Legal Experience

During the internship, you will gain direct exposure to Palestinian law through various hands-on experiences. You will visit local Palestinian lawyers, law faculties, courts, human rights organizations, legal clinics, and religious institutions, observing how laws are enacted, interpreted, and applied. This program offers a rare opportunity to understand Israeli Military Law, Jordanian Law, Palestinian Traditional Law, British Law, Ottoman Law, and Egyptian Law, as well as humanitarian law, which governs the rights and protections of Palestinian civilians.

Interns will observe court rulings, legal negotiations, and mediations, gaining insights into the complexities of law under occupation and the decision-making process in Palestinian courts. Through these experiences, you will engage with local legal experts, discussing critical issues facing Palestine and Israel, and the broader legal context in the Middle East.

Arabic Language & Cultural Immersion

As part of the program, you will receive three hours of Arabic language lessons per week, providing you with the language skills needed to better interact with locals and understand the legal documents and contexts you encounter. Additionally, you will have the chance to experience Palestinian culture, politics, and human rights issues while residing in Hebron, a city rich in history and political significance. Interns may also have the option to stay with a Palestinian host family, providing an authentic cultural immersion experience.
