Calling Artists & Craftspeople! Buddhist Art Work- Study Program.

Odiyan's new "Work-Study in Action" volunteer program starts soon!

Join our unique Buddhist art projects in bronze, clay, concrete casting, fabric, and sublimation.

Give your full engagement to the sacred art projects, while learning about Buddhism through classes, practices and study sessions. Also broad instruction in Buddhist art and architecture.

  • Stipend -- $200 per month, $300 after one year
  • Skill development in a wide range of trades and traditional arts
  • Buddhist study, meditation, mantra and Buddhist practices

Buddhist Sacred Art projects for 2024

  • Craft 186 Clay Stupas: A monumental project crafting in red terracotta clay. Stupas are Buddhist sacred monuments that represent and activate harmonious and healing forces in the world.
  • Large-scale Bronze Statue: Odiyan foundry will produce a detailed and impressive 30 ft Buddhist statue in bronze. This project has been in the works for 3 years, and now comes to fruition with the final and intense stage of lost wax molding and pouring bronze.
  • Buddhist Sacred Art Installation: Work in the creative realm of art installation, both outdoors and in the temples. Provides opportunity to experience and learn a wide range of skills including metal work and welding, wood work, decorative casting and finished in concrete, sublimation printing on fabric, ceramics and aluminum, and more.

You must be physically strong and good with working with your hands, with some experience in using tools in any trade. The Odiyan lifestyle is a physically active. Gaining self-knowledge and giving to a higher vision are honored values.

Program begins February, 2024 with entry dates available until May 2024.

Program length: Preference is given to applicants who commit for the full duration of 8 months. The minimum commitment is 6 months.
