Volunteer coaches needed at Cumberland Elementary School in city Sunnyvale - Mondays/Thursdays 2:45-4:15 pm
Make a difference in your community! Become a Girls on the Run coach! ! Running and/or coaching experience is not required, just a passion to mentor participants in an inclusive, safe environment for ALL girls. Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a fun social-emotional and physical activity program for 3rd-5th grade girls that teaches confidence, compassion, and critical thinking and gets girls moving. The season consists of 20 lessons led by committed, enthusiastic coaches who help the girls to train to complete a 5K (3.1 miles) by the end of the season.
We are looking for enthusiastic mentors, leaders and coaches to lead small teams of girls.. All materials and lesson training provided by GOTRSV. Coaches lead small groups of 3rd-5th grade girls through an easy-to-use curriculum and supervise/participate in fun running games and activities that teach life skills. Who can coach?
- Coach: Anyone 18 years or older
- Junior coach: high school girls, 16-17 years old
- People of all shapes, sizes, physical abilities
- You do NOT need to be a runner/athlete, nor have coaching experience
- All you need is the desire to be a positive role model to young girls!
Coach requirements:
- - Attend and lead twice-weekly lessons for 10 weeks (90 minutes each; March 4-May 18)
- - Interest in being a role model and mentor to girls and living a healthy lifestyle
- - Complete a mix of online and in-person training that will prepare you to coach
- - Agree to LiveScan background check and 2 personal references; be over the age of 18
- - GOTR provides all training, curriculum, and materials for a successful season

Description
Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley (GOTRSV) was founded in 2002, the first Girls on the Run council in California. Over the past 19 years, GOTRSV has impacted more than 20,000 girls in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
The Girls on the Run curriculum is one of only three after-school programs recognized by the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a top social-emotional learning (SEL) experience for kids.
