Position: Interpreter (English/Cantonese)
Schedule: Thursdays at 10:30am (Flexible)
We are looking for Cantonese interpreters to provide translation Coffee and Conversation Hours.
The residents at Oak Street are gathering once a month to share stories across languages. They are learning to use interpreters and tell their stories. This is about an hour and is a super friendly group of people.
Ideally, we are looking for a volunteer to attend on-going, but if you could only attend one, that is also welcomed.
SAHA serves a very diverse demographic of seniors in the East Bay, a large percentage of which have limited English-speaking proficiency. The volunteer will help make programs and materials accessible to our diverse resident populace.

Description
The purpose of the SAHA's Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of living and promote health and well-being for Satellite Housing's residents. Volunteers will help foster community by facilitating activities for the residents, such as exercise groups, art classes, discussion groups, providing health and wellness information, leading or participating in games, assisting with special events, etc. The residents really appreciate the effort that is put forth by the volunteers, and look forward to the weekly interactions.
