Mission Statement
Haven House, Inc., was established in Hammond in 1983 to provide temporary emergency shelter for domestic violence survivors and their children. Additionally, Haven House provides all the essentials for daily living and life skills education programs to assist survivors and their children to become self sufficient and independent away from their abuser.
Description
Haven House has been in existence since 1983 providing domestic violence survivors with safe, temporary shelter while they work on regaining control of their lives. Many survivors, especially since Covid, have not held jobs due to economic abuse and isolation tactics. We work with survivors and their children in regaining confidence and provide weekly programming on topics such as domestic violence, co-dependency, healthy relationships, parenting, budgeting, nutrition on a budget, and job skills.
Haven House works with community organizations and community members who provide programming on subjects the group or individuals have an expertise in. The more community resources we are able to provide to our survivors, the better!
