Safe2School - Cross Guard Volunteers
MISSION: To build safer communities, by providing quality training on safe pedestrian practices and community safety to our volunteers, so that children in the Fresno Unified School District can travel to and from school safely. We engage community members, parents, local organizations, and students to participate in building safer communities around each school.
We exist to ensure every student has a safe passage to and from school. We do this in several ways: · Recruiting and Training Volunteer Cross Guards · Supplying Safety gear We supply the crossing guard training and safety gear as it relates to crosswalks, school parking lots, and vehicle traffic for both pedestrians and cyclists.
BENEFITS: By recruiting volunteers from the neighborhoods and surrounding areas to come alongside the school site’s staff, we are building a team of guardians to look after the safety of the students in each region as they travel to and from school. Every person, in every neighborhood, has the desire to feel safe and be safe. It can continually be improved upon. With our city’s national recognition of gun violence, murders, and concentrated poverty, the idea of safety is on everyone’s mind.

Mission Statement
Jackson CDC is committed to resident-led community development. Inspired by the people of Jackson, our organization is committed to listening to the residents and experimenting with their solutions to solve some of the neighborhood’s great challenges.
Description
Our History:
Our founding residents, Joe and Heidi White, realized that their neighbors had so many good ideas for how to solve some of Jackson’s greatest challenges. They also realized that institutions typically served their neighbor’s perceived needs without listening to their actual needs. They utilized the best practices of asset-based community development and created Jackson CDC in collaboration with residents to listen to their neighbors as well as utilize their gifts and passions for creative solutions that address real neighborhood problems. They also prioritized collaboration with Neighborhood Church - a local church in Jackson as well as other churches, non-profits, and the City of Fresno with the fundamental belief that partnership is the only way to catalyze sustainable change in Jackson. Our Jackson Neighborhood: The Jackson Neighborhood represents 3300 neighbors and 923 homes. Our organization is entirely resident-led. Our board and staff all live in the Jackson neighborhood and every single one of our initiatives was created and is sustained by neighborhood volunteers. We offer our community a place to put their ideas into action!
