Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy by joining Food Bank For New York City for a Virtual Day of Service.

In honor of the MLK National Day of Service, Food Bank For New York City will host a Virtual Day of Service on Tuesday, January 16 from 12pm - 1pm. During this event, volunteers are invited to join us from home via Zoom, uniting in an effort to advocate for access to nutritious meals for New York students in the New York State budget.

The hourlong event will kick off with a discussion about the importance of access to healthy, nutritious food for students in NYS and how to advocate for this issue in the state budget process. The project will then move into breakout rooms where volunteers can choose to join:

  1. A youth-friendly activity to create a collective, virtual art advocacy project.

  2. A letter-writing session to write to Governor Kathy Hochul asking for her support of critical student nutrition programs ahead of budget negations.
