Role description

We are looking for a WordPress Website Designer to update and expand our website. The website is already developed and functioning well. We are looking for someone who will keep it updated and expand some sections and add new pages. You need to have an all-round understanding of web technologies such as PHP, HML5, CSS3 and JavaScript as well as have a basic understanding of visual design such as colour, font and layout. The website was built using WordPress, so a thorough knowledge of WordPress is essential. You will work closely with our CEO to ensure the website remains the same and that there are no changes to its layout.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the website
• Update the website including broken inks
• Add new pages such as Jobs/Careers, Internships, Volunteers, Trustees on country pages, Get Involved, etc
• Expand some sections of the website
• Add an e-commerce section to the website
• Remove the current donation and add a new donation system using Stripe and PayPal

Qualifications and skills

• WordPress
• At least 5 years’ experience developing and designing website using WordPress

• Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
• Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
