Role description

We are looking for a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)/SEM expert to manage all search engine optimization and marketing activities. As an SEO Specialist, you will use digital analytics and marketing skills to transform Africa Health Organisation (AHO)’s online presence.

You will be responsible for managing all SEO activities such as content strategy, link building and keyword strategy to increase rankings on all major search networks. You will also manage all SEM campaigns on Google, Yahoo and Bing to maximize ROI. As an SEO Specialist, you'll identify strategies, techniques, and tactics to increase the number of visitors to our website and obtain a high-ranking placement in the results page of search engines. By generating more leads for the business you'll open up new opportunities for driving growth and revenue.

Responsibilities

As an SEO specialist, you'll need to:

  • Execute tests, collect and analyze data and results, identify trends and insights.
  • Track, report, and analyze website analytics and PPC initiatives and campaigns
  • Programme in HTML, CSS and JavaScript to ensure the site is accessible and easy to follow and for increased interaction with visitors - this may involve working on video and PDFs
  • Write original content for webpages - tailored for the target audience
  • Optimize copy and landing pages for search engine marketing
  • Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion and optimization
  • Research and implement search engine optimization recommendations
  • Research and analyze competitor advertising links
  • Develop and implement link building strategy
  • Work with editorial and marketing teams to drive SEO in content creation and content programming
  • Recommend changes to website architecture, content, linking and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords.
  • Constantly check search terms, rankings and analytics to monitor performance of client websites and make recommendations for improvement
  • Employ user experience (UX) and conversion rate optimisation methods to turn visitors into more active users and to help improve website performance
  • Use social media to distribute content and encourage more external sites to link to your content - giving you more authority
  • Monitor the algorithms set by the search engines to keep up to date with changes.

Qualifications

This role is open to all graduates and non-graduates but a qualification in a related area such as IT, Digital Marketing, Data Science, E-Marketing, SEO Foundation, Business Studies, Technology, or Marketing may be advantageous.

Requirements and Skills

You'll need to show:

  • Proven SEO experience
  • Proven SEM experience managing PPC campaigns across Google, Yahoo and Bing.
  • Solid understanding of performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition
  • In-depth experience with website analytics tools (e.g, Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends)
  • Experience with bid management tools (e.g., Click Equations, Marin, Kenshoo, Search Ignite)
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints
  • Knowledge of ranking factors and search engine algorithms
  • A commitment to keeping your technical skills and knowledge up to date
  • An inquisitive mind which drives you to understand Google's algorithms and predict what changes might be coming
  • A good understanding of search engines
  • An ability to understand social media platforms and how to use them to distribute content, gain more links and build successful campaigns
  • A good understanding of the wider marketing context
  • Strong analytical skills for understanding ranking algorithms
  • An understanding of, or experience of, HTML coding, and preferably Javascript and PHP (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Some experience and knowledge of web hosting.
