The Visitor Center Host will play a crucial role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for visitors. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in visitor services, communication, and event coordination. The selected candidate will work closely with our team to assist visitors, provide information about our organization, and contribute to the overall success of our visitor engagement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Visitor Assistance:
- Greet visitors warmly and assist with inquiries, directions, and general information.
- Become knowledgeable about the organization's exhibits, programs, and offerings to effectively communicate with visitors.
- Front Desk Operations:
- Manage the front desk, answer phone calls, and handle visitor inquiries in person and over the phone.
- Assist with admission sales, memberships, gift shop purchases, and other transactions as needed.
- Educational Outreach:
- Provide information to school groups, tourists, and other visitors about the educational opportunities and resources available at the organization.
- Support educational initiatives aimed at enhancing the visitor experience.
Shifts are a minimum of 4 hours one day a week. Mondays, Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays are the days with the greatest need. We ask that you commit to at least on day a week. If you commit to a Saturday or Sunday we ask that you commit to at least 2 a month
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Enthusiastic and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
- Comfortable working with diverse groups of people.
- Interest in the organization's mission and dedication to creating a positive visitor experience.

Description
- Audubon Acres, a 130 acre sanctuary at the end of Gunbarrel Road, is the primary property of the Chattanooga Audubon Society. With five miles of walking trails, the property crosses over South Chickamauga Creek via our trail system with a lovely swinging bridge.
- Audubon Acres is also home to a wide variety of other activities including:
- Trail of Tears site and the home of the Cherokee built Spring Frog Cabin
- CE Blevins Replica Egg Collection
- Dr. Robert Meyers Native Artifact Collection
- Maclellan Island, another Chattanooga Audubon Society sanctuary property, is located on the river in downtown Chattanooga. Primitive camping is allowed on the Island and access is via watercraft only
