Be a part of a transformative day of service in North Riverside.

This MLK Day of Service, join the resident-led North Riverside Community Development Corporation (CDC) and Groundwork Jacksonville as they revitalize the important Jacksonville neighborhoods of Mixon Town, Hollywood, and Lackawanna neighborhoods.

With the support of United Way of Northeast Florida and LISC, the North Riverside CDC and Groundwork Jacksonville have been working to ensure residents who have lived in North Riverside for decades and even generations can safely and sustainably remain in their homes and resist gentrification while taking a critical first step toward building wealth and improving their economic mobility.

Our partners also understand that vibrant neighborhoods go hand in hand with sustainable, communal spaces. In addition to safeguarding homes they have created a community garden on Smith Street, maintained by Groundwork Jacksonville and Daily Mania Serving Center. North Riverside is a food desert--there are no grocery stores within walking distance and residents do not have access to fresh vegetables, and the garden allows residents to plant and grow their own vegetables.

Volunteers are needed to clean up the current area and install another 3-4 additional traditional raised beds as well as elevated beds so that older residents don't have to kneel down. Whether you have a green thumb or simply a passion for creating positive change, your contribution will make a lasting impact!
