We have KITTENS/CATS being adopted seven days a week in six Pet Supply stores like PetSmart, PETCO, and Pet Supplies Plus. Our partnership with these stores requires a volunteer attend to the cats twice a day. That means 84 volunteer shifts a week. We have more than 200 volunteers at varying levels of engagement and doing different tasks. We need a person to implement the best practices volunteer match teaches on their site, materials, and blogs. We want the best relationship possible with our volunteers.
Getting cats in the condos is a major task. We acquire and evaluate every cat. Vaccinate, and administer preventative medications. We foster the cats through quarantine, medical issues, socialization, and maturity to reach adoptability. We keep thorough computerized records on each cat's health, treatments, vaccinations, microchip, sterilization, and rabies vaccination. We give this complete information record to the adopter, so it must be accurate.
We post the cats to adoption sites, receive, and review each application to adopt. The application allows the potential adopter to indicate areas they want more information on like claw trimming, introducing the new cat to children or another pet, etc. We speak to potential adopters, arrange a "meet and greet" at the pet supply store, and come prepared to address their questions. If it is a good match, we complete the adoption paperwork, including paperwork the stores require and hand off the cat to their new family. Photograph the new family, post to BAND and the process starts all over again.

Mission Statement
Friends of League City Animal Shelter aka League City Pets Alive is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our purpose is to stop the senseless killing of companion animals and maintain the "NO KILL" status of League City. We acquire donations or raise funds for the purchase of services and supplies not covered by the City budget. Funds are used for mostly for veterinary care, medical supplies, puppy and kitten food, and related animal supplies.
Description
In 2013 we set a goal to become NO KILL. The community achieved that goal completely in 2017. A shelter is considered "no kill" at 90% live release rate. We didn't stop there. The volunteers and staff work tirelessly to maintain over 95% live release. Committing to be "no kill" means providing treatment for animals that most shelters would kill rather than spend funds to treat. Our community has a generous giving spirit and we are blessed with donations that allow many animals to be saved. We have cats available for adoption seven days a week at SIX area pet supply stores. The Kitty Condo Krewe increased the live release of cats significantly. The Cat Condo program requires 70 volunteer shifts per week.
"We are delighted to have moved into our new shelter in 2020. The new shelter gives us more space for animals and the ability to engage the community at the shelter and develop more life saving programs.
Come join us in saving lives.
