Recruiting Organization: Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project
VISTA Leaders co-lead an OHA AmeriCorps VISTA cohort of 10-20 members while serving on the OHA AmeriCorps leadership team to support all-team activities. VISTA members on our team serve across Oregon to fight poverty. The Leader plays a critical role in supporting these efforts by aiding in overall organization, structure, and quality improvement of the project as well as providing member support. Responsibilities include planning trainings for AmeriCorps members, coordinating virtual and in-person team meetings throughout the state, resolve conflict, holding monthly check-ins with members, managing social media, public speaking, and new member recruitment. Leaders serve as ambassadors, facilitators, educators, liaisons, mentors, recruiters, and resource generators for the team. The Leader position requires 1 year of completed service experience with AmeriCorps or Peace Corps. This position is a hybrid teleservice model at the Portland State Office Building in the Lloyd District.
This partnership project is managed by the Oregon Public Health Division located in Portland, Oregon. With the innovative public health equity work happening in Oregon, Portland is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health. The OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to strengthen service to Oregon communities. The VISTA Leader interacts directly with the Project Director and co-VISTA Leaders to collaborate on various projects that support AmeriCorps members on the team in a variety of ways. The Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project was founded in 2009 and is embedded in the state public health preparedness program, Health Security, Preparedness and Response (HSPR). We work with public health, medical, tribal, federal, state, and emergency management partners across the state of Oregon.
