Provide companionship by listening to patients’ stories and engaging in their interests
Provide respite time for the patient’s primary caregiver
Sit with patients and loved ones in the last 24 or 48 hours of life
Bereavement volunteers are trained to provide ongoing check-in calls with family members up to 13 months after the loss of a patient Volunteer requirements
- Be at least 14 years old
- Experienced no significant personal loss in the past year
- Meet the minimum volunteer hour requirement
- Complete a criminal background check (paid for by Enhabit)
- Complete a tuberculosis test (paid for by Enhabit)
- Complete an eight-hour hybrid orientation
