Join United Way NCA and HD Woodson High School in preparing 11th grade students to interview for internships.
United Way of the National Capital Area is hosting students from HD Woodson High School in DC to practice their interview skills ahead of their applications to their annual internships. We are looking for 20 adult, career-focused volunteers to serve as interviewers for the students, providing quality, appropriate feedback where necessary to ensure they are prepared and confident going into their (often) first real-life interviews.
Volunteers serving in this role should:
- Have previous experience interviewing and hiring staff
- Be friendly, welcoming, and excited to support students in their career exploration
- Be comfortable and confident interacting with and providing appropriate feedback to students
Shift Details
HD Woodson staff will provide volunteers with everything you need to know to guide student's through the day's activities. Required training and overview will happen in the first hour of the event, prior to the student's arrival. Volunteers will receive a pre-set list of interview questions and accompanying rubric for the students they will interview. Students will be expected to navigate throughout United Way NCA's DC office environment to find their interviewer. Volunteers will interview and provide feedback to a total of two students during the event.
