AgeWell at the Jewish Community Center in Squirrel Hill and in the South Hills are seeking volunteers as "tech tutors". How the tech tutoring program works: AgeWell JCC members make an appointment with AgeWell staff, specifying their technology needs (help with phone, tablet, laptop, etc.) Staff will schedule time with member and tutor. Topics covered will vary per member need (how to download an app, how to do email, use social media, etc). Volunteers will aid in closing the digital divide, and support seniors’ use of technology to address their health and social needs.
Requirements: Tutors must have at least an intermediate digital literacy knowledge base, have an interest in working with older adults, and ability to commit at least 1 hour per week at a regularly agreed upon time day/time (M-F anywhere from 10am-5pm).

Mission Statement
AgeWell Pittsburgh is dedicated to helping older adults continue to live independently in their own homes. We seek to identify seniors at risk of losing their independence and help them connect to services that will allow them to remain safely at home, for as long as possible.
Description
Checkmates. a program of AgeWell Pittsburgh is a peer-led telephone reassurance program for older adults. Checkmates offers a connection between senior volunteers and older adults in our community who may be homebound, isolated and lonely.
Confidential phone calls are made once a week by senior adult volunteers at the Jewish Community Center. A call from a peer who listens and cares is comforting and reassuring.
Checkmates volunteers are trained so that they feel confident and prepared to make phone calls. Call times are flexible and can be arranged to suit your schedule.
Donating your time to Checkmates is a rewarding way to make a difference in a senior adult's life.
