Imagine taking care of your wife who is on hospice. It's 2am, and you reach for a new bed pad after struggling to pull the soiled one out from underneath her. It's been a long, exhausting night, but you've finally gotten her cleaned up (again) and settled down (again) and if you can just replace the bed pad, and give her a sip of her favorite tea she might sleep the rest of the night.
Only, you suddenly realize you are completely out of bedpads. And adult diapers and wipes.
Not because it's anyone's fault, but because when the hospice nurse was there a few days ago you thought you had enough, but now you realize you don't.
ENTER THEFRIENDLY VOICE OF THE VOLUNTEER TUCK IN CALLER.
The Volunteer Tuck In Caller's sole job is to make sure that you never run out of supplies in the middle of the night like that!!
How?
By calling you every Thursday morning, just to double check, that you have ALL THE SUPPLIES YOU NEED FOR THE WEEKEND.
And in the process of these weekly Tuck-In Calls, you and the volunteer have some light chit chat, and on occassion develop of a fun and friendly phone frienship.
In fact, there are times, when a family or patient has called back and asked just for the Tuck In Caller because they enjoyed their conversation so much!

We are looking for caring people in the community to become volunteers and to help support our patients and staff both in our Batesville office doing administrative work and also in visiting patients and their families either in their homes or in a facility.
As a Baptist Hospice Volunteer, you can choose the type of volunteer work that you are the most comfortable with.
