Are you passionate about literacy? We are searching for amazing volunteers to help at-risk students advance in reading comprehension and writing. Volunteers would serve during the week, with the exception of Friday's from 3-6pm. If you are unable to serve the entire week, you can also serve on specific days. All volunteers must pass a background check. We provide all of the materials, as well as training and oversight on how to implement instruction. Student to volunteer ratio will not exceed 5 to 1 in small group, so you will not be overwhelmed. This is a great opportunity to serve and be a blessing to the community and children. If you are interested in serving, please send your resume to contact@thevillagethinker.org to start the approval process.

About THE VILLAGE THINKER INC

Location:

5410 BASSWOOD BLVD, SUITE 9, FORT WORTH, TX 76137, US

Mission Statement

We are a nonprofit with three programs: an after-school program that focuses on literacy tutoring/interventions, parent and family resources to support adults of the children we serve, and professional development for teachers at the schools we serve. It’s our mission to affect positive learning outcomes in literacy for students while building up their community through family and school support.

Description

We started in 2020 with private tutoring before starting the nonprofit. It’s our goal to partner with a school for their literacy-focused after-school program. We are also developing other programs, but our volunteer focus right now is the after-school program. We need education majors who are interested in helping students improve in reading and writing to serve with us. Social media marketing and nonprofit advisors willing to donate their time will help us get launched.
