Join us a as volunteer and assist the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory in monitoring the water quality and aquatic macroinvertebrate populations at 3 local waterways. Just like humans, all bird species need clean water. Many of our passerine and insectivore bird species rely on invertebrates species that begin their lifecycles in our waterways.

Creekside Chirper volunteers will be responsible for measuring and recording water temperature, flow, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, depth and biotic index.

Mission Statement

Our Mission and Our Vision To advance the conservation of birds in Wisconsin and throughout the Western Great Lakes Region through coordinated research, monitoring, and education. Description

Port Washington Community Scientist & Volunteer Sign Up

We are recruiting volunteers and community scientists to help us with the Neighborhood Habitat Improvement Project, which aims to improve residential areas for birds, pollinators, and water quality. There are a variety of options for how volunteers can help, participate in science, and learn more about our native plants, birds, and pollinators at the same time!

If one of these positions seems like a good fit for you and you are ready to help us out this year, please sign up for more information.

While you do not need to live in Port Washington, all activities are in Port Washington at this time. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering in other communities. We are actively expanding our programming in lakeshore communities and will let you know when opportunities become available.
