No experience - no problem! Each and every volunteer brings new vitality and strength and becomes part of the Essex County Habitat family. Helping with Critical Home Repairs is a great way to help others while building camaraderie and keeping busy!
Our Critical Home Repair projects are shorter term than building an entire home. and include repairs necessary to maintain sound condition of the home, weatherization and energy efficiency - those needed to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations and allow elder homeowners to age safely in their homes, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and live independently.
Our volunteer coordinator will work with you to schedule a mutually agreeable time based on the construction schedule and locations available upon your request. The schedule can vary depending on the project but would be similar to:
8:15am - registration/orientation
8:30am - 12pm work on assigned tasks
12pm - 1pm - lunch (bring you own)
1-3:30pm - work
3:30-4pm - clean up/finish for the day

Mission Statement
Essex County Habitat for Humanity's mission is to bring people together to build affordable homes, strengthen families and communities, and foster hope. Our vision is that one day, everyone will have a decent place to live. We build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
Description
Essex County Habitat for Humanity is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the largest nonprofit homebuilder in the world. We build decent, safe, and affordable homes in partnership with the families who need them. Each partner family works at least 240 sweat equity hours alongside volunteers to build their home and then carries an affordable 30-year mortgage. Affordable homeownership is the foundation for a more stable future. Since we were established in 1985, we have delivered on our mission for over 170 families in Essex County.
To help fund our work, Essex County Habitat operates a ReStore, located in Lawrence, selling quality new and previously owned furniture, appliances, building materials, and home goods at greatly reduced prices. To learn more, please visit EssexCountyHabitat.org
