The Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) at LaGuardia Community College offers free, contextualized English classes, job training programs, career counseling, and case management services to low-income Queens immigrants and their families. We aim to support our students in becoming lifelong learners and independent, contributing citizens of New York City.
This opportunity is ideal for students or recent college graduates who need to gain more work experience.
- Reliable and committed
- Basic computer skills
- Strong interest in working with refugees and immigrants
- Must be flexible and willing to help out when and where needed
- Must have excellent customer service skills, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
- Fluent in Spanish
- Available to work in-person
Responsibilities
- Assist staff with copying and filing documents, scanning and making phone calls to confirm appointments, and Answering phone calls.
- The volunteer will also help with other administrative tasks
- This position requires a three-month commitment and at least 6 - 10 hours per week
Orientation and training will be provided.
