Your community is calling. Are you ready to join as a 1:1 mentor to a teen?
CfY inspires and supports students to be their best selves through mentoring, learning experiences, and a powerful community.
Join us for our second year of CfY Duos, a flexible and introductory program that provides the opportunity for mentors and students to build a mentoring relationship based on their own schedules!
The student and mentor match will be able to explore their shared interests and choose one of the following match goals:
- Career Exploration: Focus on exploring the student’s career interests and understanding the path to achieve that career.
- Higher Education: Focus on choosing the best higher education institution for the students and supporting them in the steps to get there.
- High School Graduation: Focus on current high school academics and ensuring all high school requirements are met.
- Self Exploration & Identity: Focus on the student’s overall wellbeing and provide support and advice based on the student’s current experiences.
CfY is committed to engage safe, committed, socially conscious, stable mentors with the goal of increasing the diversity of our mentor population who:
- identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ
- work in unique career fields
- reside near South Seattle

What’s in for you?
Being a CfY mentor is rewarding, challenging, and fun! You’ll not only provide critical support for an inquisitive, driven young person, but you’ll also build a strong network with fellow mentors.

Mission Statement
Community for Youth's mission is to inspire and support the social, emotional, and academic development of students through mentoring, learning experiences, and a powerful community.
Description
Community for Youth (CfY) is a Seattle-based non-profit with over 35 years of experience changing the lives of teens in South Seattle through 1-on-1 mentorship, community building, and facilitated skills workshops. CfY is not just a mentoring organization-we’re a community. CfY's unique mentorship model has students and mentors meeting weekly in a variety of group sizes, including 1-1, small groups, and whole community workshops.
CfY serves high school students, ages 14-19 from South Seattle communities, who have self-identified as wanting additional support and community in their lives. We receive referrals from school staff as well as conduct general recruitment in schools. All students opt into the program.
CfY offers a mentoring program that steps past traditional mentoring practices and utilizes a "Critical Mentoring" framework that centers the young person, addresses systems and environments that shape young peoples' experiences, and partners with each young person to provide opportunity brokering and social change. We leverage the mentoring relationship to resist racism and oppression and bring equity to our schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, and community.
