About Us: A Few Good Mentors, Inc. (AFGM) is dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of young men through mentorship. Our mission is to provide young men with dedicated mentors who offer support, guidance, and opportunities to help them establish and achieve their life goals.

We’re Looking For: An enthusiastic, committed Volunteer Chapter Director to lead our Hampton Roads Chapter. This individual will be the linchpin in our efforts to make a difference locally, inspire others, and drive the success of our mentoring programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the recruitment of mentors and mentees, ensuring meaningful matches that foster growth and development.
  • Forge strong relationships within the business community to secure grants and partnerships.
  • Be the face of AFGM at local events, expanding our reach and impact.
  • Organize and oversee a minimum of 3 fundraising events annually.
  • Work closely with executive staff to design an impactful event and fundraising calendar.
  • Provide leadership in your chapter, ensuring monthly report submissions and participation in chapter meetings.

What We Require:

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven managerial experience, with the ability to lead and inspire.
  • Previous work within the nonprofit sector, especially in mentoring programs.
  • Ability to commit 8 to 10 hours per week.
  • Must reside within the chapter's geographical area.

  • Increase chapter fundraising to meet or exceed the annual target.
  • Cultivate a vibrant local AFGM community, matching at least 10 mentors and mentees annually.

A Few Good Mentors, Inc. (AFGM) is a 501c3 community based mentoring program that provides young men with experienced mentors who develop a bond with mentees and offer support, guidance, and opportunities to help establish and accomplish life goals.

Description

AFGM began on October 2019, we beleive every young man can benefit from having a mentor to help navigate through life. Mentors will meet or contact their assigned mentees a minimum of one hour weekly. The goal is for mature men to help younger males develop into mature men. We focus on seven areas of devlopment. Spirituality, leadership, job/career. education, finances, good manners and health. Since we began we have mentored over 30 young men in the DC/VA and MD area as well as the Hampton Roads area ov Virginia.
