About The Friends of The Bishops' House

Location:

2420 E OLD PENITENTIARY RD, BOISE, ID 83712, US

Mission Statement

The Friends of The Bishops' House was established to preserve and sustain this historic Queen Anne Victorian home. Built in 1889, The Bishops' House was home to 6 men and their families over 90 years, while each served as The Bishop of Idaho, head of the Episcopal Diocese of Idaho.

Slated for demolition in the mid-1970s, community members organized to save The Bishops' House, moving it from where it sat near downtown Boise to the Old Penitentiary Historic District.

The Friends of The Bishops' House continues to raise funds and manage the house, providing public events, and event rentals.
